C.O. Jason Tomalack ............. How Faith and Love conqueror the world.

Near the end of the end of Jesus' ministry

John 16:33....in the world you will have tribulation, but take courage, I have conquered the world.

he may have been perfect, but he was still human, he had incredible forces against him.  Real fleshly temptations.
but he conquered the world

What made him victorious?
  • His unshakable faith in God
  • and his unshakable love for God.

1 Pet 2:21... his life was a model for Christians to follow...

In the world you will have tribulation... just as Jesus had.
John 15:18... if the world hates you, you know that the world had hated me before it hated you... you have been chosen out of the world...

Jesus warned his disciples, they would be persecuted.
he also warned that we would face his chief apposer, Satan

  1. He demonstrated that kind of love...so they could see it in action
  2. he increased their knowledge of him

Mark 1:40... there also came to him a leppor.. if you just want to you can make me clean... Jesus was moved and reached out to him and touched him... I want to, be made clean
this is a demonstration of his love

John 17:1-3... this means everlasting life, they are coming to know you, the only true God...
Jesus was increasing their knowledge of Jehovah.
& 26... I have made your name known and will make it known... so that they would love you as I love you...
it helped them to continue in the preaching work.  and when forces came up against them, they continued to preach, they didn't give up.

Rom 8:35-39... who will separate us from the love of the Christ... tribulation?.... we are coming off completely victorious, I am convinced that nothing will separate us from God's love...

Nothing can separate me from God's love... not even death can separate us, because God cannot die and he won't forget us, thus keeping us in God's love.

How Christians are keeping in God's love today.
  1.  by maintaining their Christian neutrality.   Many examples of how the brothers and sisters don't allow intimidation or anything else to get them to compromise their stand.
  2. by overcoming direct opposition.  unbelieving family members, school mates, work mates.   we would be conquered if we let anything stop us
  3. successfully fighting the spirit of the world.  Eph 2:2... you one time walked according to this system of things... his spirit (the devil) pushes his attitude/spirit and influences the world.  Jehovah's Spirit is Holy, where Satan's is pushing the other way, "unholy"  and his spirit pushes people to accept unholy attitudes.
  4. by avoiding pursuing selfish and valueless pursuits.
you ever play with a laser pointer, a cat will chase it all day long, but no matter how hard they try, they aren't going to get it, there is nothing really there.  but they will chase it all day long.  wasting their time.
Satan does the same thing with us, getting us to chase NOTHING and distracting us from our real attainable life.

No one can deny just how violent this world is.  it is so bad, the spirit of this world is filled up with it.

2010 july 15th pg 10...those who have allowed themselves to be conditioned by violence.  Even the "good guys" will accomplish their goal, to do whatever it takes to do what needs to be done.

1 John 5:3-5...this is what the love of God means... that we obey his commandments and yet his commandments are not burdensome...
true love of God makes obeying God a delight and not burdensome.

Faith conquerors the world.  Having faith in God, to provide for us.

How is having a job that keeps you from attending meetings?
what will you do in order to attend the meetings and assemblies and conventions?
you are denied time off, pray pray and pray some more and maybe we will even have to loose our job but we have to trust and have faith that Jehovah will bless our efforts.

For footstep followers, will receive the blessings of a beautiful, glorious future.

Obey Jehovah's Shepherds

Heb 13:17  Be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you and be submissive, for they are keeping watch over your souls...

How do congregation elders shepherd God's sheep?

They provide encouragement and counsel based  either on Scriptures themselves or on Scriptural principles.  Such guidance is not to dictate how we should live our lives, ... it is to give us Scriptural guidelines to help them make good decisions and to promote order and peace in the cong.

Why should the sheep listen to the undershepherds?

Overseers today are appointed on the basis of Scriptural requirements inspired by the holy spirit.  Obeying Christian overseers shows our respect for Jehovah and Jesus.

Why is the imperfections of the undershepherds no reason to disregard their Scriptural counsel?

We need to have a proper view to their shortcomings and weaknesses.  The Scriptures candidly acknowledge the failings of those whom Jehovah used to lead his people in the past.  David, Peter, Moses, Aaron were all imperfect, but Jehovah used them and they since no one is perfect still, he will continue to use imperfect brothers.
Obedience to those taking the lead is vital.  Jehovah communicated with this people during critical times in the past and he is doing so today through his org.

Talk #2

God is Greater Than Our Hearts, How?

do I struggle with negative feelings about  our self?
God loves mankind?  yes
God is love?  yes
God forgives repentant sinners? yes
God loves me personally?  maybe?/// that one may not be fulling convinced in our hearts... but personally, we might struggle with that.  it isn't unusual for us

Job 9: 16-18.. will He hear me?...he won't let me catch my breath... he keeps filling me with bitter things...
those are some seriously negative thoughts.
he lost 10 children in one day, he lost everything,
so his feelings are understandable.

Ps 38:4, 6, 8, 10... my errors loom over my head... i am distressed... i walk around sad all day long... i am crushed...
pretty sad words from King David.
feelings of guilt over past wrongdoings, he did some pretty bad things,

Difficult situations, or past wrongdoings, can cause us to loose our joy in serving Jehovah.  Our heart can tell us that we are nonredeemable

Ps 103:10-14.... he has not dwelt with us according to our sins..
when he finds a basis for forgiveness. we are always doing things that causes us to miss the mark.  when we try to do better we repent, He doesn't pay back what we really deserve or we would never make it.  we are thankful he works with us

:11  as the heavens are higher than the earth, so great is God's loyal love towards those who serve him...

:12  from the sunrise to the sunset, so far off He has put our transgressions. how far is that?  so far, that we can't see it.  when He forgives it is gone..

:13 as a father shows mercy to his sons, so does He even more so...
the compassion and sincere apology we hear from our children,

:14... remembering that we are dust..
he is ready to forgive heart felt repentance...

Ps 51:17... a heart broken and crushed, you will not despise....
he notices and feels for us when we are crushed and broken.

Jehovah's view of his dedicated people, is far beyond what we can imagine.  If our hearts tell us one thing, but Jehovah feels something else, who's view should win?
WHO'S VIEW SHOULD WIN?

1 John 3:19-20... by this we will know that we originates with the truth... God is greater than our hearts and knows all things...

He knows all things, he can see things that we can't understand.  Jehovah sees everything about us.

1 Chor 28:9...know the God of your father and serve him with a complete heart... He searches all hearts...He discerns every thought and inclination...

he sees our potential.   he draws us to him because he sees the potential that we can loyally serve him forever.  he knows what are mistakes were and are, but he sees our eternal potential.
we think, maybe, but I have done so many bad things.  Who's view should win?

Ps 139:16...as an embryo... all our parts are written in his book...

Perhaps because of our background, we have a self condemning heart.

i have no hope... i am useless, a failure.. i mean nothing to anyone

1 john 15:19-20... God is greater than our hearts and knows all things...

we might be doing everything we can do, but still have feelings that we are worthless.  God is greater than our hearts. We wouldn't be here if He doesn't see potential to server him for eternity.

Jehovah will help us to adjust and a line us so we can match up to what we need to do.
If we heard something this week that can help us, that can adjust us.  just work on one or two things this year.  don't do many things, because that is too overwhelming.

Ps 119:32.. i will eagerly pursue the way of your commandments.. you make room for it in my heart....
or you make my heart have the confidence.

Knowing that God loves us, can give us the confidence to apply what He as directed us to do.

Through Job's struggles, he became self centered, and lost focus on the big picture.  that he makes a retraction, about saying God crushes him.  Job repented and retracted what he said because Jehovah opened his heart, and Job was accepted his direction.  Job was open to the adjustment he needed to make.  and Jehovah blessed Job more than before.  His relationship with Jehovah was restored and his confidence and joy were restored and Job died happy and satisfied.

King David made adjustments.  You uphold me.  Because of his repentant coarse, Jehovah was able to forgive him and help him to correct his ways. David died confident that Jehovah would remember him.

Never allow negative feelings to cause us to stop serving Jehovah.  He see our potential and His thoughts are far greater than us.
