Mike Stute gave the talk today, what a great part!!

Evil is anything that causes pain, sorrow or distress.

What kinds of things are the result of evil?
distress
accidents
painful loss
death of a loved one
being offended by hurtful talk

What the human tenancy is in response to suffering evil... revenge or retaliation or even blaming others or even blaming God for the suffering.

Rom 12:21... do not let yourself be conquered by the evil but conquer evil with the good.

Gen 1... God saw everything he made was very good.  It was not a design that Jehovah put on the earth.

Rom 5:12... through one man sin entered into the world

Satan is not directly responsible for every source of evil because sin has spread to all of us.

Ecc 9:11... time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all.

If we go out and see we have a flat tire, we don't blame Satan that he did it, but we realize unforeseen occurrence, of running over something that punctured that tire.  Satan isn't directly to blame for every sort of evil we encounter.

2 Tim 3:1-3.... critical times hard to deal with will be here...
There is a great tribulation that is coming.  And God will intervene and remove all wickedness from the earth.  But until that time we have to continue to conquer evil with good.

Prov 22:3... shrewd is the one that has the calamity and remains concealed...
so experience helps us to be shrewd.
Say you come upon a dark alley with a couple of shady people down there... do we go down there?  NO, experience tells us in this world, it would be save to stay away from that alley.

2 Tim 3:12... those desiring to live in association with Christ...we will be persecuted...
If you try to conquer evil with evil, will bring disastrous results and will bring reproach to Jehovah's name.

The death of a loved one is over whelming.  Grief is normal.  But prolonged grieving would be disastrous.  When one isolates themselves from the congregation.  But having a sure hope in Jehovah and leaning upon the congregation, as well as doing good for others can all help us to conquer that evil with good.

Another evil is when someone offends us.  If we allow ourselves to be controlled by that evil, when we attend the meetings, it will suck the joy out of the spiritual food.  We need to conquer that evil so it doesn't rob us of joy.

Col 3:13... continue putting up with one another...freely forgiving one another....
If we allow ourselves to be upset, it takes away from the love and love is a vital element to our cong. unity.

verse 8... put away wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech and obscene talk out of your mouth...do not be lying to one another...
these are very damaging to the cong.

LOVE THIS.... JEHOVAH'S PEOPLE ARE THE MOST LOVING AND PEACEFUL PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET.  IF I CAN'T GET ALONG WITH THEM THE PROBLEM IS NOT THEM IT IS US!!!

Alcohol abuse is a serious problem and does cause disastrous results daily.  Being extra cautious with regards to using alcohol can conquer that evil negative results of its use.

Those who strive to conquer evil with good will have a chance to live forever in paradise under Jehovah's righteous kingdom.

The WT lesson on page 22 of the April 15th WT.  "Make Sure of the More Important Things"...Phil 1:10

Jesus' disciples had enjoyed preaching the good news of the Kingdom along with Christ.  But as Jesus said, "the harvest is great but the workers are few", so how would a witness be given to all the nations?

One point that we need to focus on today is that in order for a witness to all nations to actually be accomplished, we have to put forth effort to maintain our spiritual priorities, just as the early Christians did.

Many are finding this challenging, and they are loosing their focus because some are "weighed down", getting sidetracked or tiring out because of the pressures and anxieties of everyday life.  HOW AM I DOING?

It is vital to continually reflect on all that Jehovah is accomplishing through his organization today.  We can do this by reading and meditating on the many Bible accounts where the writers were allowed to have visions and insight on how Jehovah's organization is working.  There are also videos to watch meetings to learn at among other ways to help us focus and stay focused.  Remembering that we are a part of a universal organization can hep us as well.

Other ways we can focus on preaching is to volunteer with the Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction, or helping those affected by natural disasters or those facing medical emergencies or organizing our assemblies and conventions or teaching in theocratic schools.

Frequently examine what adjustments we can make to make sure of the more important things in our daily routine as well as, how we can simplify our lives or reduce distractions so that we can have more of a share in the preaching work and stay in step with Jehovah's organization.

I pray all the time about being of use to Jehovah.  And when he does use me, I am humbled by his love.  When I know there are so many who are far more eloquent and mobile than I am, it makes me feel so small and insignificant.  I don't think I have anything to offer.  Yet Jehovah finds work for me to do and I am grateful.
