Do You Harbor Resentment?
September 22, 2013
Bro Kreshack? from Ladysmith?
I will never forgive that person EVER! have we ever said or thought that? Do we take offence easily? Do we harbor resentment or hold a grudge?
Ecc 7:9... do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended... offense rests in the bosom of the stupid ones
James 2... we all stumble many times...
We all make mistakes, we all offend people at times.
The problem lies when someone says something, and we take offense quickly and easily, when it was a misunderstanding.
How about when someone says things that are just untrue. that we are a heavy drinker or heavy eater.
Matt 11: the son of man came eating and drinking...a drunkard, glutton and had bad association... wisdom is proved righteous by it's works...
So Jesus didn't say anything, he didn't get offended. He said the truth would be revealed by his works.
When someone offends us, we need to first thing...was it intentional that they were really trying to offend us? unlikely. perhaps it was a misunderstanding. It is very important that we stop and think about what is going on first.
Eph 4:26... let the sun not set with you in a provoked state.... neither allow place for the devil....
So if we allow ourselves to be offended and hold a grudge, we are allowing the devil to influence us. The devil looks for places where he can find weaknesses, so he can drive a wedge in and separate us from the cong.
Matt 5:22...everyone who continues wrathful will be held accountable to the court of justice... to Jehovah.
John 4: 20... anyone who says he loves God but is hating his brother... is a liar and not acceptable to Jehovah
Perhaps we have seen some who is holding resentment to the offence someone has caused, and they stop going to meetings altogether. They leave Jehovah.
Ps 103: ... he will not keep finding fault....
We offend Jehovah every day, but he doesn't not hold a grudge against us.
Isa 55:7 ... let the wicked man leave his way.... turn to Jehovah... for he forgives in a large way...
What a wonderful blessing that He will forgive us.
22:39...you must love your neighbor as yourself...
you can only love someone if you love yourself. You have to forgive yourself as well. We need to have self worth and self respect. we make mistakes, but God is greater than our hearts. the way he sees us is most likely greater than we see our self.
It is important to bury the hatchet. we need to forgive and then forget and move on.

- We all sin... who can control our tongue
- Stop and think... was it as misunderstanding, misinformed?
- Remember Jehovah's example of forgiving
- Strive to Forget... and don't hold it against others and ourselves.
