Why Mankind Needs a Ransom

Why Mankind Needs a Ransom. Peter Stewerwald
Man has many important needs, like air, food. But there is one need more important than any other
Rom 5:12... that is why just as though one man, sin entered into the world and death through sin...
In order to eliminate sin and the consequence death, we have to find out what it costs.
Well, Jehovah sent his son to eliminate that issue.
Mark 10:45... even the son of man came to minister...and to give his life as a ransom in exchange for many...
If you compare many other translations, they all show the word "ransom". So this need is of the utmost importance. Yet, Christendom has deviated from the doctrine of the ransom.
Acts 12:20... men will rise and speak twisted things...
you can ask people of many other religions and they really don't know the answer as to what the ransom even is, not to mention why we need it.
C.T. Russel broke away from Barbar, because of this very issue. Russel left the "Harold" and began printing "Zions".
A ransom is a price payed to by back something taken away. Kopher is the Hebrew word for ransom.
The Ark of the Covenant even had a Kopher on it... it was the cover. Noah had to build a Kopher with a pitch on it...the roof...making it a cover for the ark.
Duet 19: ... eye for eye, hand for hand, foot for foot...
So it is a exact price for what was lost.
What is needed?
Heb 10:1- ....the law is a shadow of the things to come...it can never...make those who approach, perfect... it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take the sins away...
So animals can't pay the sins for humans.
Job 14:4... who can produce someone clean from someone unclean.
or you could say "Perfect" for "clean"
1 Tim 2:5-6... who game himself a corresponding ransom for all...
Adam had all the food he could have wanted, but it was over the matter of food that this problem came.
Jesus had fasted for 40 days, and it was over the matter of food to be tempted from Satan.
Adam was influenced by someone close to him
Jesus was tempted by Satan, who was closely related.
That is how perfectly Jesus matched.
Ps 40: ...no one can redeem a brother...
The ransom is paid to God.
When was the ransom paid. Nician 33 C.E. Jesus died. Then 3 days later he was resurrected. But it wasn't paid yet.
Heb 9:11... he entered into the holy place...with his own blood... he entered into heaven before God.
So sometime as he entered into that 40th place... before God that that ransom was paid.
So who can benefit from this ransom arrangement.
Adam really murdered the human race. So he couldn't be covered from that arrangement.
Col 1:20... by making peace by the blood he shed... on earth...and the things of heaven..
Those who would be serving as kings and priests in heaven.
Rev 7:9... I saw a great crowd, which no man was able to number...out of all nations...
& 14... they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb...
So there is a great crowd on earth who also benefit from this arrangement.
So we don't have the perfect conditions on earth now, so how can it benefit us today?
This ransom is truly and undeserved kindness.
There are those who willfully commit wrongdoing as they presume they can do as they want.
And there are those who feel so bad for their mistakes, they don't feel worthy, and they won't take in knowledge of the truth and they let past guilt keep them from approaching God.
The view we should have is that like the prodigal son. Not that you HAVE to accept me back, but with sincere regret for the mistakes, but warmly & humbly accept God's undeserved kindness.
We have all heard the like, "don't take it personally". How about applying this to the ransom
Gal 2:20... it is Christ who is living in union with me... he loved me ...
So Paul took the ransom personally that it was for him as an individual. This too is how we should look at it.
We need to learn about the ransom and apply it's benefits in our lives.

Pro 19:3... "It is the foolishness of an earthling man that distorts his way, and so his heart becomes enraged against Jehovah himself."
1) What might cause us to become enraged against Jehovah?
Our own imperfect nature can distort our thinking. Pro 19:3 says a man's foolishness can "distort his way so his heart becomes enraged against Jehovah"
We could face a hardship or a problem arises, and we may not blame Satan or Jehovah, when it is a mistake of our own or the wrongdoing of someone else. This path, can be hard to turn back from. It is something that doesn't happen over night, but it seeds in our heart and if we don't root it out, we can become to self centered and become enraged against Jehovah.
We know we are enraged against Jehovah when we withdraw from meetings and service and avoid doing what we should.
2) What are fice factors that can help us to avoid becoming enraged against God?
3) We should remember what when faced with difficult problems?
