Act Wisely as the End Draws Near... Charles Bidlow
If you are traveling to the mts in Colorado. How do you know you are getting closer to your destination. We see signs, we see the mts ahead. We can see we are getting closer.
How do we know we are getting closer to the end of this system of things. We see signs. The world we live in has growing problems. Problems with the air supply, food supply, health, water, crime, disease, natural disasters and the list goes on and on. It is irrefutable that we are living in the last days.
Ps 24:1... to Jehovah belongs the earth and everything on it...
that includes us. we belong to Jehovah.
Say on our trip, our vehicle breaks down. We are at the local mechanic, but that mechanic doesn't know anything about our car. However, our best friend is actually a designer of that car. wouldn't we can on him for help?
Jehovah knows the situation and knows just how to correct all these problems.
Ps 32:7... you will safe guard me... & 8.. I will give advise with my eye upon you...
So we pray to Jehovah and ask for his direction. We can be doing our bible reading and find a verse that applies just for us, what we need. or studying our WT and an lesson is just what we need. Jehovah has many ave that he helps us.
Prov 13:20.. the one walking with the wise will become wise...but the one who has dealings with the stupid will fair badly.
So we need to be spending time with those who also walk with Jehovah
1 Pet 4:7... be sound in mind...be vigilant with a view to prayers...
Now is the time to act wisely.
5 different action items
1) develop obedience from our heart to obey Jehovah.
we need to take on parts of his personality. hating the things he hates. nothing that he instructs us to do is for our benefit. so it is vital to hate what he hates.
2) preparing today for life in the new world.
there are lots of things we look forward to in the new world. We need to make sure our heart condition is in line now. If we are serving Jehovah begrudgingly, we are going to be in trouble like the Israelites. We need to make corrective action NOW.
3) displaying that true Christian personality. We need to cultivate the fruitage of the spirit. We need to have a healthy spiritual diet by partaking of all of Jehovah's spiritual food. Satan puts an abundance of junk food out there, so we need
what kind of person am I? do i show improper interest in another's mate? do i have an improper view of alcohol? do i have a domineering personality.
4) be vigilant with a view to prayers.
Ps 86:8... I call to you all day long...
having a close personal relationship with Jehovah will help us to keep focused on what he wants us to do vs. being side tracked on the wrong path.
if we go to a hotel on our trip, and the paint is hideous, and we go out and buy paint and sheets and a new faucet.. that kind of thinking is absurd.
5) put emphases on Jehovah's blessing present and future. We have many spiritual blessing today and there will be an abundance in the future. not getting sidetracked in our thinking but being focused on what Jehovah has given us.
2 Peter 3:11... all these things are to be dissolved... consider what sort of people you ought to be in holy acts of conduct and deeds of godly devotion... as you await and keep close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah... there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting...
we are not just taking a trip... we need to be fleeing to the mt of Jehovah. we can't grow tired. we must become immersed in serving Jehovah. it will be a pattern for us now and forever.

CONSIDER AND ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER
Heb 10:24 "Let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works"
What does it mean to "consider one another"?
It means to take into account the needs of others, to think about them. We cannot do this by just saying HI at the meeting or talking about trivial matters. We also cannot "stick our nose in where it does not belong". If we are to truly get to know them, we need to become their friend so that we can learn about their situation in life, their qualities, their spirituality, their strengths and weaknesses. To do this we must spend real time with them.
How can we "incited one another to love and fine works?
We need to motivate fellow believers to display love and engage in fine works in a loving way by helping them to show love for God and for neighbor. With loving counsel and appropriate commendation to motivate the wrongdoer to return to fine works.
How can we "encourage one another"?
Encouraging others involves motivating them to continue moving forward in their service to God. And this calls for strengthening and comforting the downhearted. We need to speak in a warm and gentle manner. James 1:19 brings out to be swift about hearing and slow about speaking. If we listen empathetically, we may be able to identify situations that discourages them and then help them in those situations.
A discouraged person may not immediately feel better or respond quickly to the help we offer. We may need to "KEEP ON" supporting him. Paul said: "Keep hold of the weak, be patient with everybody." So we need to continue supporting them. Jehovah is gracious and kind to us, especially when we are downhearted and discouraged. His mercies are "new each morning" and they "will certainly not come to an end" (Lam 3:22,23) Jehovah EXPECTS us to follow his example and treat the depressed ones with tenderness.
