the gift

We did it! EO was gone all day taking his mom to 2 doc apts. And then I told him Steph had been taking care of me and that we already had dinner figured out so EO could take his dad out for dinner so that they could talk and discuss all they learned from the doc apts. This gave us enough time, so that Colton could go to his doc apt. (he tore a muscle in his leg and needs to wear a brace for a few weeks). then we hauled and moved and cleaned and revamped the TV cabinet to make room for a TV. Our old TV was so bad, there were these HUGE (and when I say HUGE, I mean half of the screen was covered by them, right in the middle of the screen) purple and yellow splotches on the screen that sometimes went away, but mostly not. Our stereo didn't work anymore so all that was hauled out. We didn't get another stereo as we can play CDs in the DVD player. Although we came in under budget so we could have gotten a bigger TV, it is still bigger than the one we had and that is fine. We have been looking for a new cabinet though as the one we have is pretty worn out. Colton cut the top off, so to just clean up and simplify the living room so it doesn't look so cluttered. See... I said I was throwing stuff away every day. We are all happy with how the living room looks. As for EO... we were all here when we got home and we just waited for him to notice and it took a few minutes for it to register. When he did realize what had happened, he turned to me and said....."not just what part of this could I wear?" (cause that was one of the clues I gave him) and I replied... "The cords...You might look silly wearing them but you could still wear them". hahaha. I told him I was needing to throw him off the scent so he couldn't guess the gift. It worked. Plus he was super surprised how big it was. I told him that was the other surprise was taking his suggestion to revamp the cabinet so that it would hold a bigger TV and then to toss out the broken stereo. And that the other part of the gift was it was all in the truck and he didn't have to clean up the mess himself. He loves it!
I told him I wanted him to have his gift before winter because winter is when he watches TV more as there is just nothing to do outside, and he thanked me for thinking of that. And he can watch the rest of the NASCAR race season on it. I know others who have a much bigger TVs, and it just isn't necessary for us, this one is plenty big.
So now I need to find a cabinet that is in our budget but not busted up like ours, so that I will keep looking for.
Doc apts... So Carol saw her surgeon yesterday, and she said she is on track and healing nicely. And that the fluid she is building up is going to let up as her appetite and food intake increases and improves, plus they made an adjustment to her meds so that will help with that as well. As it is already decreasing. Then they set her up to see another doc right after that who explained she will start Chemo in about 4 weeks, and she will have treatment once a week for 18 weeks. Steph already said she could drive even twice a month if needed. I think between Bill, Staelens and our crew we should be able to handle getting her to her treatments. Carol should be getting her vac tube out in about 3 or 4 weeks. EO said that Bill and Carol were really comforted by all that the docs had told them yesterday. And that Carol will most likely come home sometime next week.
We are all breathing better because Dianne is making improvements too. The scariest parts seem to be over for Carol and Dianne. I think the scariest parts are, not knowing what is going on and not having a plan of action.
We had family worship last night. And again, we all LOVE the new book!!! Plus, we have been talking about how we have received warnings from the platform that we shouldn't be watching movies with zombies, werewolves, vampires, ghosts or are very violent and magic and so on, but we have been hearing people talking about those movies and how much they love watching them on FB or in person or where ever. So we have been talking about it the last two weeks. Then Colton made a comment and said... and what do we do, get a new TV to watch all that badness... yeah, but, we aren't watching it. For example... I heard a bunch of people talking about how much they love Pirates of the Caribbean... so i thought, well, since so many love it, and I have never seen it, i will watch it... HELLO!!!! I watched all of about 15 or 20 minutes of it, until i was sure, yeah, all those monsters are ghosts/zombie things. So I asked one of the girls and they said they are in all of the movies.... SERIOUSLY??? EO & I know we have a problem with watching action movies. we don't like the ones that are super graphic and bloody and violent. but some of the action ones still have some violence to them. then i found out that the family feels some episodes of Atlantis is too violent (it isn't graphic) but they do a lot of fighting of aliens. and some aliens are kind of creepy. I just didn't realize how it bothered them. So I am getting rid of that series. Next to Dancing with the Stars, Atlantis is my next favorite show. And yeah, there are some episodes i skip cause they bother me. So it is time to toss them out. We go through this every ...so many years, we go through out collection and toss out a bunch of movies. then a number of years go by and we get new movies and we just don't realize how that kind of junk creeps in. The fact of the matter is, as long as we live in this disgusting world, that kind of garbage is going to seep in. we just have to keep doing a "head check" to make sure we have our head on straight. We might not do it perfect, but we are going to keep trying to be aware.
We can't always do everything right. Our standards won't always be the same as somebody else's. We all have to decide what is best for us, because we each have to answer to Jehovah.
