coming home

Colton said he wants to move back home, and today he will be moving back in. It might only be for 10 days though. It turns out that LeRoy & Kristi will have a vacancy Feb. 1st. and they offered the 3 bedroom house with a garage in Superior to Colton. Normally they charge $700 a month but they offered it to him, because it is him for $500. Colton plans to take it. He wanted more time to save up his pennies for it, but I don't know if they can wait.
This would save him well over $200 a month in gas just driving to work every day. Plus, starting this week, he is working full time... 40+ hours a week,,,, more like 45+. He would be able to make rent no problem, but if he could find a room mate, (which he is asking Jed first) he would be able to have a lot more flexibility. Before his surgeries he was over a month a head on his bills. I made him get a head so that while he was laid up he wouldn't get too far behind. He is so glad he did.
So with him moving back, we knew we needed to make some changes. We haven't had a closet in the little bedroom, So we built one... mostly Leon did 99% of the work. I told Leon, in all the years we have been here, we have a corner in our bedroom we have never had any use for, so it would be ideal for a closet. Plus, I said, when we don't need the room anymore, and we making the living room bigger, I wanted a closet there for extra coats & the vacuum and what not. So it worked out.
Plus, I always wanted a shelving unit at the end of the hallway. So he build that too. He still needs to make doors for it. but it is so nice to have!!!!
Putting the closet in, we needed to paint. Looking around our room we saw we really needed to paint the whole room. We found an old gallon for paint in the closet, with just $2 of coloring, they were able to make the paint. Plus... Leon didn't take a sample of the color with him, so looking at the color chart he picked the color... exactly. he can't believe he found it from memory. I know I was impressed!!!
We have one wall left for him to paint... for HIM.. because it is the tall wall. Which I can't reach even on a chair.
The other thing we are planning to do is to rip the carpet out of the bathroom. and we have been talking about putting another sink & counter and maybe a closet in there... we would be taking the big tub out too. One of these years we want to put new carpet in throughout the house.
I am really excited about Colton getting into the house in Superior. He would go to Sunday meetings in Superior and Tuesday meetings in Solon. Because he has to work Thursday nights, and Superior has their meeting Thursday and not Tuesday.
Lauren is sad about him moving. She was excited he was moving back home but she doesn't want to see him go. But Colton does plan to come down each Tuesday afternoon, to work at the apts and do laundry and stay for the meeting. maybe stay the night, if he needs to.
Steph is excited and she wishes she could move in with him. But she would need a car, which she has one ... Grandma's. But she would need to find a job. I have a feeling she is going to go job hunting soon.
The kids are growing up so fast!
