A nephew

Ok, so I freaked about mom, still kind of freaking, but doing better. The other night, mom calls, and says, "I just got off the phone with a woman named Sally James, she said her son is named, Robert Dane James." I thought, "ok, so what"? Mom proceeded to tell me how this woman knew details about our family, as well as how she met my brother, Rob, and how when she told him she was pregnant, he freaked out and said, "No, I can't deal with this, I can't be a father" then left her, not to long after he married Nicole his second wife. She said how Rob has been sending her $207 or $214 (I forget which) every month for the past 15 years. She had sent him a few photos, but Rob has had no contact with this son or the mother.
Sally has been trying to figure out how to get a hold of us, but it took awhile to figure out how to find us on the internet. She didn't ask for anything but health history of the family. She said she would mail out a copy of the birth certificate and some photos. With the info she got from mom, she said she was going to sit down with her son that night and talk to him about this. She asked if we would mind sending some photos in return. I have been working on putting some together of as many family members as I can.
I wondered how this boy feels about being abandoned by this father and if he ever wondered or wanted to meet this family. I personally am pissed beyond reason at my brother! Mostly I hurt for his son, because he didn't deserve to be ignored. He doesn't even know he has family here that already cares about him.
I wondered how Sally could handle this on her own. She has never been married. But also, her own father left when she was a little girl and her mother doesn't want anything to do with them. How awful is that? She was living in Missouri but moved up to Iowa to be near her sister. She also now has developed a spinal disease and has a cyst on her brain. The
thought crossed my mind that if something were to happen, if she would be looking for someone in Rob's family to take him in. I don't know if we could handle a 15 year old worldly boy, but I would be willing to do what I could to help.
I also know he is 5' 10", 200 lbs and on the wrestling team in school. At age 15, he is certainly going to be a big guy. I wonder if he is blonde like Rob?
It saddens me Rob kept this a secret. And what is with the pathetic 200 bucks? Is that all it is worth to him? It's so sad.
We still are waiting for confirmation that this is Rob's son. Naturally, Rob hasn't responded to mom's messages. I did find Sally on line, and the places she has lived is what she said.
I've told the kids & Leon, but we aren't telling anyone until it is confirmed. I don't know who we will tell, well, Great Grandma for sure. Rob can't keep this hidden and we won't keep his secret. This boy needs to know he has family who cares about him.
